Attorneys Jennifer Salvatore, Sarah Prescott, and Julie Porter announce their partnership as Salvatore Prescott & Porter, PLLC—a firm specializing in employment and civil rights litigation, as well as criminal defense and investigations. Salvatore and Prescott will lead the firm’s Detroit office, while Porter will lead the firm’s new Chicago office.
Porter joins the firm after more than a decade as a top federal prosecutor in Chicago. Most recently she served as the Chief of the Criminal Division for the United States Attorney’s Office in the Northern District of Illinois, supervising over 120 federal prosecutors and heading all federal criminal prosecutions for the office—one of the nation’s largest and most well respected U.S. Attorney’s Offices. Ms. Porter has extensive trial experience including some of Chicago’s most complex financial and public corruption cases. Before serving the public as a federal prosecutor, she was a litigation partner at Kirkland & Ellis in Chicago.
“With Julie as our partner, we can expand our existing Chicago-based employment work and bring her deep expertise in federal criminal law, trial work, victims’ rights, and internal investigations to our firm,” said Prescott, a firm founder and Harvard Law graduate who started her career at a national Washington, D.C. law firm and then partnered with prominent civil rights attorney Deborah Gordon before founding Salvatore Prescott & Porter, PLLC.
“I have followed Julie’s career for almost twenty years,” said Salvatore, who met Porter in law school at The University of Michigan and who, like Porter, began her career at a prominent Chicago litigation firm, Jenner & Block. “Julie adds deep trial experience and a mastery of sophisticated litigation. As our Illinois-based work has been growing, and as our cases are increasingly complex, we wanted the best to head our Chicago practice. There’s no question that’s Julie Porter.”
Ms. Porter, Ms. Salvatore, and Ms. Prescott now head one of the largest women-owned employment and civil rights-focused trial firms in the Midwest. “We are committed to providing the highest quality legal representation to individuals who have been wronged or are facing injustices,” said Porter. “This work is important, and I’m proud to serve alongside outstanding trial lawyers like Jen and Sarah.”
